Beijing Capital Airport is the closest airport to our hospitals. The airport is approximately 40 minutes drive from any of our hospital campuses. Our English-speaking staff will wait for you at the exit holding a board with your name on it. Please let us know if you have any special needs, such as a wheelchair or stretcher.
You will wear your own clothes, pyjamas and shoes for most of your time in hospital. You can bring (or buy locally) your own clothes and shoes. You will also need to bring your own toiletries and hygiene items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, etc. We don't provide hairdryers, so if you need one, please bring it with you (220V). You may need a converter plug to convert your electronics to 220V.
Your room is a private, modern and functional hospital room. There is an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Our standard rooms have a patient bed and a doctor's bed, an LCD television, a small microwave, a water dispenser and a small fridge.

Lu Daopei Hospital has two campuses. One campus is located in Beijing Yizhuang Economic-Technological Development Area, and the other is located in Yanjiao Economic-Technological Development Area, Hebei Province. 
Lu Daopei Hospital recognises that communication between the medical team and patients has a significant impact on patient care. Therefore, we provide free English language assistance for patients whose preferred language is not Mandarin Chinese, and other languages upon special request. Subject to availability. Our service hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Outside office hours, on-call interpreters are available for emergencies. Some of our doctors, nurses and therapists are also bilingual.
One of the escorts can stay overnight in the in-patient room. Our International Centre staff can help other escorts book hotels near our hospital before you land. The cost is approximately CNY 300 per night. If you are a BMT patient, your treatment period is longer and the dietary requirements are stricter, so we suggest you rent an apartment near the hospital. Accompanying persons can cook for the patient every day. Almost all apartments in China are furnished. Monthly rent ranges from RMB 2500 - 6000 for a 2-3 bedroom apartment. Usually 6 months notice is required.
Treatment FAQs
Blood and bone marrow transplantation is a special type of treatment for people with certain types of cancer or other bone marrow disorders. In a blood and bone marrow transplant, cells that are normally found in the bone marrow are taken, prepared and given back to the patient or another person. The aim of a blood and bone marrow transplant is to give a person healthy bone marrow cells after their own unhealthy bone marrow has been removed. 
Blood and bone marrow transplants have been used successfully since 1968 to treat diseases such as leukaemia, lymphoma, aplastic anaemia, immunodeficiency disorders and some solid tumour cancers.
The following diseases are the most common to benefit from a blood or bone marrow transplant:
- Leukaemias
- Severe aplastic anaemia
- Lymphomas
- Multiple myeloma
- Immune deficiency diseases
Lu Daopei Hospital offers autologous transplantation, allogeneic transplantation, HLA-matched unrelated transplantation, haploidentical transplantation, cord blood transplantation and syngeneic transplantation.
Lu Daopei Hospital is one of the best haematology and BMT hospitals in China. We have 490 beds and 51 air laminar flow rooms (for BMT).
From 2003 to 2017, we have performed a total of 4297 cases of BMT, including 2587 cases of haploidentical (haplo) transplantation, 815 cases of unrelated donor (URD) transplantation. We perform more than 500 BMT cases per year. Our BMT department performs 1/10 of the total transplant cases in China every year.
We have the best outcomes in the world for blood and marrow transplants, particularly for haploidentical and unrelated matched donor BMT. In addition, haplo-BMT at our hospital can achieve comparable results to HLA-identical sibling transplantation.
Our disease-free survival (DFS) rate of BMT is about 80% at first complete remission (CR1), 60-70% at CR2, and 40% at CR3/NR.

Chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy is a new treatment for a variety of cancers. The idea is to remove the patient's T cells and genetically engineer them to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that recognises a specific tumour-associated antigen (TAA). As a result, when the CAR-expressing T-cells are reintroduced into the patient's body, they will target and eliminate the TAA-expressing tumour cells.

It is very important that while travelling you’ve all the relevant documentation available with you including hard copy of all the medical reports, pathology reports including glass slides and paraffin blocks which will be required for review, imaging results of CT, MRI, PET scan if available .

Housing and lodging is easily available around the hospital
For bone marrow transplant estimated hospital stay is around 4-6 weeks. However, you will be required to stay within the city for at least 6 months as post bmt frequent follow up is required. 
The CAR-T clinical trial at Lu Daopei Hospital is for patients with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (B-ALL), B-cell lymphoma and multiple myeloma who have relapsed or become refractory to chemotherapy.
Since 2015, we have completed around 300 CAR-T clinical trials for refractory relapsed B-ALL, B-cell lymphoma and multiple myeloma with excellent results.
We summarised the first 51 cases and published them in the Journal of Leukemia in 2017.
The overall complete remission rate was more than 90%.
The CAR-T clinical trial takes approximately 6-8 weeks.
Although the complete remission (CR) rate of CAR-T treatment is high, there is still a risk of relapse. Studies have shown that bridging BMT after CAR-T for B-ALL could further increase the potential cure rate.
